Last night I decided to push the limits of the raw food diet. I went to bed at 2 am and woke up at 6 am, which means I only slept a total of 4 hours. Waking up when the alarm clock rang, I felt somewhat tired. I did not intend this to be a sleep experiment as well as a diet experiment, but it seems I need more time to accomplish all the goals in my life. If I was waking up before the alarm clock on 5 hours of sleep, I thought I could cut my sleep down to 4 hours. When I initially woke up I was dragging a bit. I rinsed my face with water for a few minutes, but that hardly helped. I weighed in and then headed to the kitchen.
Breakfast
I still did not feel awake as I prepared this meal. I was feeling a bit slow mentally as well.

- organic grapefruit (755g)
- organic mango (311g)
- organic avocado (194g)
I ate the grapefruit first. Then I alternated between eating a piece of mango and eating a piece of avocado. About 15 minutes after finishing this meal, I felt wide awake and ready to go. It’s as if someone had given me some go juice. I didn’t feel sleepy at all. I became more mentally alert and started wondering if I had really been tired in the first place.
Lunch
After eating breakfast, I was on a steady energy stream. I did not feel any of the tired symptoms I had felt in the morning. It seems 4 hours of sleep was enough sleep to get me to lunch. I did not notice any difference in my physical or mental state from the previous day. I was steady and just as mentally sharp.

- organic kiwi (391g)
- organic pear (152g)
- organic blueberries (135g)
- organic bananas (287g)
I had some organic kiwi for lunch and their tangy taste really hit the spot. I need to eat them more often. I just don’t like to peel them that much. But if you want to eat the good stuff, you have to work for it. All things considered peeling them so I can enjoy them more often is a great trade-off.
Dinner
All this tasty goodness can be yours if you decided to pursue it. It may not look super appealing now, but once you start feeling the good vibrations this raw food meal provides, you’ll start loving foods like this.

- mixed salad: organic romaine lettuce (156g), organic carrot shavings (20g), organic tomatoes (237g), cucumbers (260g)
- kiwi (114g)
- green smoothie: organic bananas (305g), organic baby spinach (86g), organic collard greens (70g), organic pumpkin seeds (15g), 2 1/2 cups water
I’m really starting to enjoy the green smoothies for dinner. As soon as I had the green smoothie, I felt relaxed and at peace. I did not feel tired one bit. I had expected lulls at some points throughout the day, but they never came. This is surprising because I never could have slept a total of 4 hours and still have been functional on the SAD diet. With that said, I will try to sleep only 3 hours tonight. I will report the results tomorrow.
Vitals
Weight: I’ve lost another .4 lbs. This puts me at 179.1 lbs.
Body Temperature: My temperature today was 97. 8 °F.
pH levels: The pH level today was still 7.50 pH today. The body seems to be cleaning itself up a bit.
Blood Pressure: Systolic today was at 127 and diastolic was at 67.
Endurance: I did not go to the gym today.
Strength: I did not lift weights.
Cognitive Capacity: I was still clear and alert even though I had only 4 hours of sleep. This gave me some extra time to work on this site as well as work on some of my other side projects. I will try to do this again for Day 14 and see what I can get away with. I don’t want to take things too far, but at the same time I do want to push the boundaries of what’s possible. I want to optimize the diet so that I can post about its boundaries and limitations.
