I woke up this morning feeling nauseated. I wanted to get out of bed but struggled to do so. Although I didn’t have a headache (in my previous trial I experienced bad headaches on Day 4), just moving made me feel like I was going to toss my cookies. Mentally, I was nowhere near normal. I called in sick and slept around 11 hours. This is unusual since I am usually fine with around 6-7 hours of sleep. For some reason though my body just craved sleep and made me feel sick every time I tried to get up and walk around.
Breakfast
I had a late breakfast due to sleeping in, so I could even call this brunch. Luckily, my fridge was still stocked from the days before so I didn’t have to go shopping. Most of the food I eat is store bought from either Publix (it’s a great supermarket in the South) and Whole Foods. There are some foods, such as oranges, that are grown in my mom’s back yard. She gardens as a hobby and plants mostly flowers, but she does have 3 lemon trees, 2 orange trees, and some little pineapple plants, which I am hoping will bear fruit in a couple of years. On top of that she also has a few friends with ruby-red grapefruit trees as well as other home gardens. The oranges I ate today were handpicked yesterday and they were the tastiest fruit on this morning’s menu. I am currently living in a place which I’m renting so I can’t plant my own garden, but I plan to buy a house within a year so hopefully then I can plant my own trees.

- organic bananas (308g)
- organic oranges (246g)
- blackberries (151g)
- grapes (183g)
- almonds (79g)
Lunch
I knew the mental fog and physical symptoms were all part of the detox process so I just went on to prepare lunch. I figured I should concentrate more on darker greens to get me through the detox quickly so I blended some together and drank the mixture quickly while eating my food. I made a mistake by drinking the smoothie quickly.
In order for the greens to properly be digested there need to be certain enzymes in the mix, those enzymes are present in saliva and saliva is secreted in ample amounts when chewing. Therefore it is best to chew your smoothie while you drink it in order to increase the saliva in your mouth so that there will be plenty of enzymes mixed in with the blend to aid digestion. There is no correct answer on how long to chew it for, but usually a few seconds until you feel the mixture warming up in your mouth. Now you may be asking, “Why not skip the blender and just chew the greens?” Well, it is still better to blend the greens because the blender aids greatly in the breakdown of the cellulose walls of the plants, which makes it easier on your stomach. The other reason is that collard greens and kale don’t taste too great on their own, especially without any dressings.

- tomatoes (208g)
- cucumbers (295g)
- nectarines (277g)
- organic Fuji apples (255g)
- green smoothie: organic baby spinach (41g), 2 organic bananas (206g), wheat grass (31g), collard greens (71g), 3 cups water
Dinner
I didn’t feel like eating dinner, I wanted to avoid food altogether. I decided to make a smoothie and just drink it down, after chewing each sip. I decided to just plop down on the couch and turned on the TV. I saw a couple of commercials for food I normally like and I could feel my stomach going into convulsions. It was disgusted. So I just turned off the TV and stared into space. I just chewed on the smoothie as I sat there and everything felt so peaceful. About twenty minutes after finishing the smoothie I felt a bit better mentally. Still foggy, but not nearly as bad as when I woke up in the morning. My stomach felt better as well.

- green smoothie: collard greens (56g), organic baby spinach leaves (60g), 2 organic bananas (219g), wheat grass (23g), 3 cups water
Vitals
Weight: I dropped 2.5 lbs today. Bye, bye mass! I am down from 186.7 on Day 3, to 184.2 on Day 4. If weight loss is your goal then you might want to try the raw food diet. The only drawback is you have to stay on it.
Body Temperature: My temperature today was 98.7 °F. A little high for me, but well within the normal range of most individuals.
pH levels: The pH level today was an average of 7.0 for most of the day.
Blood Pressure: My blood pressure was lower today. Lowest since the start of the experiment. The systolic was at 129 and diastolic at 67.
Endurance: I was feeling weaker than yesterday. Getting out of bed was a chore and even moving through the house made me feel tired.
Strength: I felt sick, so I didn’t go to the gym. I decided that if I could barely move through the house, then going to the gym was definitely out of the question.
Cognitive Capacity: I was mentally foggy when I woke up and the fog continued to follow me throughout the day. After drinking my green smoothie dinner I felt some of the fog going away, but I was still not at normal capacity.
